Lion Candle Small – Olive

Hand poured, Fair Trade made sculptural candles in a range of heraldic animals and iconic BRITISH COLOUR STANDARD colours. Created in house by British Colour Standard in London.

Inspired by the BCS beloved logo featuring a noble lion – a collection of heraldic, sculptural animal heads. Here the Lion holds court in British Colour Standard Neyron Rose.

An eco, fair trade candle, hand poured in British Colour Standard Orange Flame.

These unique, shaped candles make a wonderful gift- they really are a piece of sculpture for the home.

Candle Care & Safety:

These beautiful, sculptural candles have been tested to burn safely but because of their unique shape and size there is a risk of more wax pooling/melting than with a standard shaped candle.

The larger head shape may cause the flame to rise more highly than usual which may cause smoke, not typical of burning stearin wax.

For best burning results, pay attention to trim the wick once an hour.

Best when lit for 4 hours at a time

Stop burning when 2cm of unmelted candle remains

Leave 10 cm between candles when burning

Always use a candleholder/plate under the candle

THE STORY BEHIND BRITISH COLOUR STANDARD 1931

The art/design team of Jackie Piper & Victoria Whitbread have a shared love of colour & material exploration. Discovering an old colour dictionary in an Oxfam shop began a journey to re-establish this long forgotten brand with it’s original HQ at No 13 Portman Square in London, demolished after the second World War.

A treasure trove of colour & rich history first established 1931.

Out of use since the 1950’s, they acquired & accurately scanned original colour dictionaries.

A digital colour reader established a profile for the many hundreds of colours created and logged in the 1930’s and these original colours & names are used in their current collections.

Derived and inspired from nature, flora & fauna, as well as semi-precious stones & spices, the main collections include many historic & special Royal colours, designed and used for coronations & special events.

Aiming to be the go-to brand for colour in the home for paint & interior accessories as well as championing eco, sustainable & Fair Trade products within their collections.

Established 1931, now 21st Century ready.
